Transnational Migration and Social Reproduction: Eldercare Work of Chinese Immigrant Women Professionals in Canada

We are researchers at York University, Canada, who are doing a study on the eldercare experiences of Chinese women from Hong Kong and from Mainland China. We are interested in conducting an interview with you. The interview will be between one to two hours. You can choose to be interviewed in English or your mother tongue, or both.

Eligibility Criteria


At least 18 years old

Taking care of an elderly family member in Canada or home country

Have at least one child

Immigrated to Canada from either China or Hong Kong within the past 15 years

Study Tasks

Participate in a one-to-one interview
We Will Ask You: How do you care for your elderly family members? How do you juggle your paid work and household and caring responsibilities? What strategies, networks and services do you deploy?


This study is approved by York University Research Ethics Board

Health and Wellness

Interview, Online, Phone Call

Weekdays, Weeknights, Weekends, Overnight

1.5 hours total, 1 session

The interview will take place using Zoom or phone call



A $30 honorarium will be provided for your time
