The Oral Language Skills of Children

University of Toronto, Department of Applied Psychology & Human Development

We are looking for children who speak English as their only language between the ages of 7-12. This is part of a larger study that seeks to improve assessment of speech and language disorders. Children will participate in 60 to 90 minute testing sessions with a research assistant and graduate student. It will be done entirely online through either Microsoft Teams or Zoom Pro. All of the games in this study concern oral language: children will be asked to identify pictures, explain their favourite game/sport, and make up some fun stories. If children have a known or suspected disability, parents should speak with researchers before participating to see whether any of the tests may overlap with future or past assessments.
