Participant Details: Participants will be asked to provide a one-time donation of five tonsil swabs and a small aliquot of blood. A registered research coordinator and phlebotomist will be on-site at the University of Toronto to conduct the sample collection. The expected duration of the visit will be 15-20 minutes. Monetary compensation will be provided.

Study Objective: The Gommerman lab is recruiting healthy participants for a medical study linking oral bacteria and chronic kidney disease (CKD). In collaboration with the Toronto General Hospital, the study aims to understand differences between healthy individuals and CKD patients in order to elucidate mechanisms that could provide therapeutic benefit for CKD.
This study has been approved by the University of Toronto Research and Ethics Board. Protocol #27926
