Parenting during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Fordham University, Psychology/ Pediatric Emotion Regulation Laboratory

The Pediatric Emotion Regulation Laboratory (PERL) at Fordham University is currently recruiting parents with a child in 1st through 6th grade who has a current diagnosis of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or a child who does not have any diagnosed mental health disorders for a research study about parenting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Study participation involves a single online session during which parents will be asked to complete questionnaires about how COVID-19 and related social distancing and distance learning practices have impacted them, their parenting, and their family. It only takes about 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion, participants who provide their email address will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card. In addition, for every study participant, the PERL lab will donate $1 to NoKidHungry to help children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your Impact

The aim of this study is to understand the experience of parents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, we aim to learn about how parents managed their child's distance learning and other stressors and whether these differed between parents of children with ADHD and parents of healthy children. Overall, we expect to learn about how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted parenting and use this knowledge to inform school professionals about ways to improve distance learning methods for the fall.
