The purpose of this study is to exmaine social perspective taking and emotional intelligence in children with ADHD. The study will involve your child completing puzzle-based, story-based, and questionnaire tasks relating to emotions and social interactions. The parent/guardian will complete a demographics questionnaire and a package of questionnaires relating to their child's thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. The research session will be conducted through an online video format that may be completed from the comfort of your home.
Understanding the relationship between theory of mind and emotional intelligence in children with ADHD may allow for the development of intervention programs to help strengthen social skills and associated emotional intelligence in this population.
Diagnosis of ADHD
This study has been approved by the University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board.

2 hours total, 1 session
Parents will also complete a package of quesitonnaires relating to their child's emotions, behaviour, and demographic information. Child participants will work one-on-one with a researcher to complete puzzle and story-based activities as well as answer questions about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Sessions will be conducted through video call. Participants will get to select a $25 e-giftcard as a thank you for giving their time and effort to participate in the study.
