Seeking Individuals with High Social Anxiety or Shyness

EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCES AND SOCIAL ANXIETY • Do you avoid social situations? • Do you worry about being embarrassed or looking foolish in social situations? • Are you between the ages of 17 and 65? • Do you have access to a computer, reliable internet connection, and a smartphone/tablet? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study looking at the link between people’s emotional experiences and social anxiety. WHAT: • Completion of short online questionnaire to determine your eligibility • 1.5-hour video call during which you will complete questionnaires and watch several short film clips • Completion of short daily questionnaires for 2 weeks on your smartphone or tablet

All genders

17 to 65 years old

Study Tasks


1.5-hour Zoom sesison
completion of a short daily diary questionnaire over 2 weeks
completion of a short eligibility questionnaire (non-remunerated)

This study has been approved by the Ryerson University Research Ethics Board (Research Ethics Board REB file number 2019-330).
