Chronic Stress, Cognition, and Food Cue Reactivity in Prader-Willi Syndrome: A Magnetoencephalography Study

The goal of this project is to see how areas of the brain involved in hunger, stress, emotion, and learning are related to changes in body hormones. We will be comparing results between children/adolescents with and without Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). All data and sample collection will occur during two separate study visits to SickKids. Study measures include fasting bloodwork, simple physical measurements, a hair sample, a magnetoencephalography (MEG) session, and a full neuropsychological assessment. Compensation for parking, travel, and time is provided. Volunteer hours are offered.

Eligibility Criteria


All genders

7 to 16 years old

Inclusion Criteria: Children and adolescents aged 7-16 years with or without a diagnosis of PWS

Exclusion Criteria: History of major head trauma; Diagnosis of diabetes; Current or recent smoker (i.e. >2 cigarettes/week during past year); Metal in body (braces, permanent retainer, shrapnel, metal slivers, unremovable metal adornments); Use of certain medications
