"Changing the Conversation" Research Study - CONTACT PEARL PARTICIPATE!

University of Toronto, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)

We are seeking emerging adults (18-25 years old) and parents for a parent-child study on healthy communication. The study involves a parent and their emerging adult child coming to the lab on two occasions to complete surveys and engage in several conversation tasks. In between those two sessions, the parent will return to the lab to receive a free communication strategies workshop. The parent and the emerging adult will each receive $80. Your Impact

Your participation in this study will help us gain a better understanding of the communication challenges between parents and their young adult children, with the goal of developing a training program to better help parents engage, support, and improve parent-young adult relationships.  

Eligibility Criteria

All genders

18 to 70 years old


Fluent in verbal and written English

Emerging Adult (ages 18-25)

Able to travel to Downtown Toronto

EA and parent will come to the lab (located in downtown Toronto) for two sessions that will take approximately 2 hours each. In between those sessions, the parent will come to the lab by themselves to receive a free workshop on communication strategies
