Well-being of employees working or studying abroad

Research has identified numerous sources of stress in the workplace due to growing globalization, technological advances and is considered as a high-risk environment. This research aims to address various stress factors experienced while employees working abroad adjust in the new host country. The current research aims to introduce web-based interventions to the “digital natives” ICT employees working abroad, in terms of reducing stress and improving well-being.

Eligibility Criteria


All genders

24 to 45 years old

• living and working/ studying for minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 5 years in the host country

• on skilled visa category – migrant visa, work visa, study visa, employer visa etc

• aged between 24-45 years

• working and/or studying in ICT (information and communication Telecommunication) sector.

Study Tasks


Session 1 - you will be asked to complete a 20 minute survey measuring your stress and well-being aspects
Session 2 - based upon the session 1 results, some of you will be encouraged to engage in a self-guided training program. here you will be asked to express your thoughts and feelings associated with a stressful event. You will require 15 minutes/per week for 8 weeks.
Session 3 - Here a 10 minutes qualitative evaluation of training program will be conducted.
Session 4 - you will be asked to complete a follow-up 20 minute survey measuring your stress and well-being aspects post several weeks.

200 minutes total, 4 sessions

Session 1 - Here you will be asked to complete pre assessment survey. You will be measured on stress and well-being aspects. Session 2 - Here participants will be asked to express their thoughts and feels about a stressful work event in a 15 minute/per week intervention program for 8 weeks Session 3 - Post two months after the completion of session 2, all participants will be asked to complete post assessment survey. You will be measured on stress and well-being aspects. Session 4 - Brief qual evaluation of intervention program will be conducted as a follow-up (10 minutes discussion).

Session 1 - all participants will receive Amazon Gift card valued at $3.50 USD each upon completion of this session Session 2 - First 75 participants will receive Amazon Gift card valued at $10.00 USD each upon completion of this session. Session 3 - First 50 participants who have completed sessions 1, and 2 will receive Amazon Gift card valued at $3.00 USD each upon completion of this session Session 4 - all participants will receive Amazon Gift card USD valued at $3.50 USD each upon completion of this session.
