We are seeking male participants with ED that are over the age of 18 and in an intimate relationship to participate in our research study. The study will assess you and your partner’s willingness to try an external penile prosthesis (EPP) to maintain sexual intimacy. You will be asked to answer questions about yourself (e.g. age, sexual orientation, ED status), as well as what ED treatments you have tried. You and your partner (if they are willing to participate with you) will be asked to collaboratively answer questions on your willingness and degree of comfort in trying an EPP, how long after experiencing ED would you suggest they be recommended for use by couples, and how you think EPP’s should be labeled, and what they should look like. This study is anonymous and will take about 15 minutes of your time. Upon completion, you may enter a draw for a $20 Visa gift card (1 in 20 chance of winning).
The aim of this study is to assess males and their partner's openness to trying an EPP for erectile difficulties. This assessment is to see if this is a comfortable and acceptable treatment option for those with erectile difficulties. Additionally, the study will assess how those with erectile difficulties think EPPs should be presented to them (i.e. when should it be presented, should it be presented by a doctor, a psychologist, etc., what the EPP should look like, and what the EPP should be called.)
The study is approved by the Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board of the University of Calgary Study ID: REB20-0101
