Self-Injury and COVID-19

McGill University, McGill Mindfulness Research Lab


The McGill Mindfulness Research Lab is looking for individuals who currently engage in non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) to participate in a survey looking at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals who self-injure. The survey is only available in English. Participants will be invited to enter two draws of 20 $100 Amazon.ca gift cards. Your Impact

There are no direct benefits to your participation in this study; however, through your participation, we hope to understand the unique challenges individuals who self-injure may be facing during this time. Specifically, we hope that the knowledge gained from this study will help researchers and mental health professionals understand how to address the needs of people who self-injure during and after the pandemic. Results may be published in academic journals or presented at academic or clinical conferences.

Eligibility Criteria

All genders

At least 18 years old

Intentionally engaged in self-injury (e.g., cutting, burning, scratching) without wanting to die in the last 12 months

Must currently reside in Canada

Study Tasks

You are invited to participate in two online surveys
