Aging & Memory Research Study (60+)

Baycrest, Baycrest Health Sciences, Rotman Research Institute

University of Toronto, Department of Psychology, Department of Psychiatry

We are looking for older adults aged 60+ with Mild Cognitive Impairment, early-stage Alzheimer's, or are experiencing memory concerns to participate in a two-session research study at Baycrest Hospital. Each session will take around 3 hours. For the first session, you will complete some paper-and-pencil questionnaires of memory, language, and visual-spatial skills. The second session will involve a variety of simple computer tasks while we measure brain activity using EEG (electroencephalography). The EEG involves placing essentially a swimming cap on your head, and will only measure the activity of your brain. EEG uses the same technology as a cardiogram to measure heart rate (otherwise known as an EKG). The EEG does involve a kind of hair gel placed at various positions on your scalp to measure brain activity, but we have a sink, towels, hair dryer and shampoo to rid of the gel. Compensation will be provided at $12/hr for the first session, and $15/hr for the second session, + TTC fare/parking.
