Ragweed Allergy Study

Ragweed is one of the most allergenic species in Canada. One ragweed plant can release over one billion grains of pollen into the air spreading across the country in late summer and early Fall. Itchy red watery eyes, runny nose and sneezing are all too familiar symptoms experienced by ragweed allergy sufferers. If you have a ragweed allergy, contact us to find out how you can get involved in a clinical research study. Compensation for pre-screening is up to $100. If you qualify, compensation for participation is up to $2,085.

Eligibility Criteria

Male, Female

At least 18 years old

Allergy to ragweed pollen

No history of dry eye syndrome, blepharitis

No history of uveitis

No history of moderate or severe asthma or allergy-induced asthma to ragweed

Other criteria will be assessed

Study Tasks

Informed Consent Document
Pre-screening to determine eligibility
Medical history and demogrpahics
Measurement of vital signs - blood pressure and heart rate
Skin Prick Test (SPT) using a panel of seasonal and perennial allergens
Eye examination
Screening and study treatment sessions in an Environmental Exposure Chamber (EEC)
Other tasks will be outlined during the ICF process

Study visits/duration: Pre-screening visit (approx. 1.5-2 hrs.) Medical screening visit (approx. 4 hrs.) EEC screening visit (approx. 3-4 hrs.) Treatment visit 1 (approx. 6-7 hrs.) Treatment visit 2 (approx. 5-6 hrs.)

Compensation

Up to $2085

Pre-screening compensation up to $100 in addition to study compensation for participation.
